I can only speak from the Supertrapp "camp", but, "slip-on" simply means that you don't have to install a new header pipe, as the replacement muffler slips-onto your existing header pipe. Generaly there is no welding required.

There's probably 100 posts on this list disscusssing the pros and cons of various aftermarket pipes. I would say that the Jardine seems to be the preferred brand by the majority, and that most of these folks indicate that the Jardine does not require carb mods.

For what it's worth: I have a Supertrapp, and love it. You can adjust and "tune" a supertrapp, while I do not believe this to be possible with the Jardine. The supertrapp can take upto 20 diffuser disks which influence your bikes performance. Gernerally more disks = louder, higher pitched, and more top-end. Less disks = deeper, mellow sound, more bottom end.

Most supertrapp folks that I've heard from seem to indicate that they do tend to do some sort of re-jetting. I'm currently running 16 disks with a 155 main jet, no white spacer, and the "hot" spark plug. My understanding is that rejetting is important, if not essential once you go over 8 disks.

I don't view rejetting as a bad thing. You can do it in an hour or two. My bike is a totally different bike with the larger main jet. When I really "get on it" you can feel the difference a 005 increase in main jet makes.

Anyhow, I think you'll be pleased with the Jardine, I don't think I've heard a bad thing about them. They seem to be consistently good. The supertrapp, on the other hand seems to be a bit finicky, or at least there seems to be a bit of variability with them in terms of owner satisfaction. I love mine, but I heard of one guy whose supertrapp fell apart from the inside out while riding. It seems like you either get a "lemon" or a "hotrod" with the supertrapp, while you always get a solid product with the Jardine.
